The Adventures of The Tylers: California Vacation

This was our last full day, and maybe our most relaxing. We got to sleep in a bit and took a walk around San Ramon with Pat. It is so beautiful there.

Jeff worked a half day and once he got home we headed to Napa. We didn't have to plan a thing, make any decisions, or drive at all. We stopped at a little market to get sandwiches for a picnic. We had our picnic at Rutherford Grove winery and had a glass with our meal.

We moved on to the Fransiscan (I think) winery to look around the tasting room and take some pictures. From there we went to Silverado where we had a tour. It was both interesting and beautiful. We had a tasting at the end of our tour and Frank, the tour guide was generous, allowing us to try any of the wines available in the tasting room, and offering chocolates that weren't on the menu.

Then we barely made it to Mumm before the closed for the day. They primarily make sparkling wine and the tasting Vince and I shared included 3 full glasses of champagne. We were able to sit out on their terrace and look out at the beautiful vineyards and mountains.

Our final winery stop was Beringer. We knew this one because Oma always has Beringer White Zinfindel in the fridge! It was a huge place with a few different tasting rooms. Again, we made it in just before they closed. We had planned only to look around but Jeff convinced me and Pat to each get a wine and chocolate tasting. It may have been the best on we did. Each of the wines and chocolates was delicious.

We ate dinner at Rutherford Grill after a short wait outside on the patio. The food was amazing, as was the atmosphere. We thought we would all fall asleep on the way home from the wine, food, and long day but we stayed awake singing along to the San Fransisco oldies station that we are going to start streaming online because it was so good.

The night was filled with more relaxation and packing. We were sad to leave but excited to get home and see Mack. We missed him so much!! Now it's back to reality. At least we have thousands of pictures to remind us of our great times!
