Headed back to city life...grabbed picnic supplies at Bruno's Market in Carmel and walked the beach for a bit. We decided against the 17-Mile drive because it was foggy and didn't seem worth the money.
We had an easy drive up to San Fransisco and made our way across the bridge. We stopped and walked about a third of the way out. The weather was perfect but the wind was freezing!
Then we made our way up to Muir Woods. We had a picnic lunch in the car and headed to hike. Muir Woods is a national monument with a few different trails. The most popular ones are a 1/2, 1, and 1 1/2 mile boardwalk style trail. We made it a few yards down the main trail and had to get away from the crowds.
We decided to do the Ocean View Trail without realizing that it would be 1.2 miles completely uphill! After some doubts and lots of sweat we made it to the top. The plan was to take 3 other trails to get back to our car. Unfortunately we had no idea the last trail was closed so we had to walk along the street for the last mile or so. It was beautiful none the less.
Exhausted we headed back through San Fransisco (in rush hour) to San Ramon where the Tyler's family friends Pat and Jeff live. They were wonderful enough to put us up for a few nights. We spent the first night eating tons of delicious food and finishing off a bottle and a half of wine. It was great to catch up with friends and relax in a non-hotel room.
