London Day 1

So we recently got back from a 2 week trip in Europe.  It was a dream come true for both of us.  We spent four nights in London, three nights in Paris, and six nights in Enkhuizen (a small town in the Netherlands).  We had a wonderful time and are still trying to get re-adjusted to Texas time.  Poor Vince had to go back to work today but at least we were both wide awake at 5:30.  Mack stayed with his grandparents while we were gone.  They were such a blessing for us but I think they had a pretty good time with him too.  We had so much fun but we are happy to be home and back together as a family.  We're excited to share some pictures too!  It may take me a bit but I'll post some from each day so you can get an idea of what we did.

So, we started out in London (we figured it would be good to start somewhere we could speak the language).  We used a website called Airbnb to find a flat to stay in in London and Paris.  We got to the flat mid-afternoon and were met by our hosts who showed us around the place and made sure we felt comfortable.  We got settled in and decided to walk around and see what we found.  We ended up walking a bit farther than expected but it wasn't bad.  We tried a pub for dinner - not great but that's what we were told to expect.  We crashed pretty early but then seemed to over the jet lag after that first day.  Here are some pictures:

In the courtyard of our flat

Seven Dials in Covent Garden - our street was the second one on the right

We knew Cantina Laredo was a chain but did not expect it to be down the street from us in London.  We had to keep ourselves from going there when we started craving queso and margaritas on day 2.  Sarah, that's where we ate the last time you came to visit :-)

Trafalgar Square - the people in the red unitards were some exhibition (related to the Olympics we think) that were just falling from the scaffolds onto a mat below then climbing up and doing it again.  We didn't understand.

Trafalgar Square

And again

Traditional telephone booth that smelled like whiskey and urine...seriously

Old school style bus

Big Ben

Victoria Embankment along the Thames with great views of the Southbank

London Eye

A Sphynx by a big Obelisk monument for something that I can't remember right now

The Sussex - pub from the first night
