It's hard to believe that Cambria is already 2 months old! She is changing in so many ways and we are really getting into a rhythm. Here are some of the "milestones" we've come across this month:
-Smiling: Cambria has started smiling in response to us and just on her own. Toward the end of this month she really started focusing on our faces and smiling.
-Cooing/talking: Cambria has become quite verbal! The nurse in the delivery room commented that she had a good set of lungs (which I think says something considering she deals with screaming babies every day). She has never been much of a crier and still isn't, praise God! Cambria pretty much cries when she's hungry and really, really tired. When she starts to get tired she "sqwaks" but that's about it. Now she has started to "coo" and make all sorts of vowel sounds. Her favorite one seems to be "oh" with fun inflection and "ga" which Daddy loves to imitate. She seems to talk the most in the morning when she gets up and right around the time Daddy gets home from work.
-Holding her head up: Cambria is now holding her head up pretty much all the time. I can sit her against the Boppy pillow and she will sit up (but sometimes throw herself to one side or the other). When we hold her she holds her head and trunk up most of the time. She loves to sit facing out to see people. She's not loving tummy time unless it is on one of us but when we do it in the Boppy she will try to hold her head up more.
-Sleeping: She is sleeping for more regular stretches at night. She will generally give me 3.5 to 4.5 hours between feedings. We have been having the most difficulty going down at night. Once she is asleep it is great but we've gotten into a cycle of staying up too late and getting overtired so then she can't calm herself to get to sleep. (At her 2 month appointment the doctor suggested a very early and very regular bedtime which we've been attempting for the last 2 weeks and it has worked wonders! She will usually sleep 5-7 hours during the first stretch after we put her down around 7 or 7:30!) Cambria also transitioned to her big girl crib at about 7 or 8 weeks. We all seem to sleep better with her a few steps down the hall.
-Feeding: Cambria still wants to eat every 2.5 to 3 hours during the day but we have hit the stage where things are much more automatic. We are even able to do it out and about which I never thought would be possible when we started. She is growing like crazy and was just over 10 lbs at her 2 month appointment.
-Other stuff: Her eyes are getting a bit lighter but still a pretty dark blue. She had pretty bad baby acne but it cleared up basically right at the 2 month mark. She hasn't seemed to lose any of her hair and just seems to keep getting more. Right now it is sort of a strawberry blonde color and I am praying that it stays that way.
So it has been a bit hectic but a month of growth and getting into more of a routine. We are cherishing every minute and cannot believe how fast Cambria is growing!! She seems so different already and time is flying by! If you actually read any of this - thanks and here are the pictures you've been waiting for:
| Ready for some football |
| Charlie and Derek came over with the boys one Sunday when they were in town for a game. Derek asked Logan if he wanted a baby sister and his response was, "No, one brother is good." |
| Aunt Sarah came to visit for a weekend - I got out of the shower to find everyone napping |
| Longhorn family |
| Chris came to visit and give Cambria a present - a blanket with his picture and the caption "Chris King is my role model" |
| This is what Cambria is thinking about the Longhorn season |
| At least some of our late nights were game nights |
| After church one day - we took this picture to send to my students so they could see me as a mommy with my 2 babies |
| Mack loves fall because we open the windows |
| The day after Cambria's 2 month birthday - we couldn't get the pictures taken before her doctor appointment and she was not up for them after her vaccines. This was the only slightly smiley picture I could get the next morning because she was still a bit bummed about her shots. |
| She was also tired |
| Our beautiful 2 month old! |
