Christmas parties galore

So last week was a crazy week of Christmas festivities!  We had so much fun but are thankful to be relaxing and recouping energy this week.  Saturday (the 10th) we had a Christmas party with all of the Kidstuff volunteers from all three campuses of our church.  We were bused out to The Saltlick in Driftwood and treated to a delicious BBQ dinner.  We had fun getting to know some of the fellow volunteers and singing along to Christmas songs on the bus.  We were supposed to go to the trail of lights in Wimberley but that portion of the night was rained out.

Sunday and Monday were spent trying to get some things organized and ready for the craziness that the week would hold.  Tuesday night we spent with our missional community group.  We had an amazing pot luck that completely stuffed us!  We also spent time celebrating Sammy's birthday a few days early and wrapping presents for a big event on Thursday.  Wednesday Vince's work hosted their holiday party at Alamo Drafthouse.  We stuffed ourselves (again) and watched "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation."  It was a nice night out, all for free.

Thursday our group volunteered at Webb Middle School helping with their "Healthy Holiday Dinner."  We decorated, cooked, served, and cleaned up for around 400 people in the St. John neighborhood of Austin.  This was an amazing opportunity to serve in the neighborhood by our church and reach out to families.  In addition to our brothers and sisters in our missional community I had 4 friends from work come and help us.  It was so great to merge these two parts of my life and let some of them get to know each other.  It was a long and exhausting day but so rewarding!

Friday Vince and I both finished up work and came home to tons of work.  The house was a mess after having something going on every night of the week.  We were also headed out of town for a week the following morning and had tons of laundry and packing to do.  We were so tired when we got on the road Saturday but were thankful to be with family and start really celebrating Christmas.  We only have pictures from Tuesday night since we didn't take our camera with us to any of the other events.  We'll also start posting the various family Christmas celebrations in a few days or so.  Hope you enjoy a little insight into our extended family :-)

This is how Mack usually watches TV with us...on top of me

Celebrating Sammy's birthday with an all fresh fruit cake by Katie.  We were cracking up because Katie was trying to make it look like a candle.  This was the behind the scenes shot where you can see it happening.

Contemplating the delicious flavor or just a blink?

Derek requested some action pictures of his dancing
